Year by year Baikal is getting more and more popular among different
categories of visitors. About 10,000 people come to the National Park
every summer (considering the population of the Barguzin region it makes
over 25,000 visitors per summer). About 30,000 annually visit the park
in winter. The majority of them are fond of ice-fishing. They come to
the park to fish the well-known "Baikalsky omul". The number
of foreign tourists is not high. It is preconditioned by the remote
and hard-of-access location of the park, the lack of advertisement,
the lack of developed tourism service sphere.
There are various forms of touring being successfully developed in the
National Park, such as: scientific touring, adventure touring, trekking,
mountain touring, ornithological touring, photographing touring and
others. There are 5 trekking routes and 2 water routes in the territory
of the park.
Doing a route, you'll have an excellent opportunity to get acquainted
with the unique nature of the Baikal region. You will test your muscle
and nerve on the "Trail of tests", which runs through the
plateau of the Svyatoy Nos Peninsula. You could bathe in hot spring
and take pictures of
charming creeks of the Chivyrkuisky Bay. You'll have a chance to meet
the host of the Siberian taiga, the brown bear. On the Ushkanyi Islands
you will admire the Baikal seal (nerpa). You will admire the sharp peaks
of the Barguzin Range and try the most delicious Baikal meal - fish,
particularly coked on a campfire.
For the visitors to enjoy the Lake Baikal and its nature there are 2
hotel-boats, each housing 20 people.
In the village Ust-Barguzin you could stay with the "Bed and Breakfast
families", where you are sure to find cordial Siberian hospitability,
the hot russian traditional banya (bath-house), fish pies and consuetude
with the hosts of the families.
Planning to visit the Zabaikalsky National Park, please, don't forget
that it is a wildlife Nature Park. Be ready for emergencies and bad
weather!
The best way to rest and enjoy the park is to take a tent, a sleeping
sack, a backpack, with enough food, an experienced guide is also recommended,
and go trekking. The route through the Barguzin Range known as
"The
way to the pure Lake Baikal" will leave unforgettable impressions
on you.
The Chivyrkuisky Isthmus with
its vast water-and-marsh lands and thousands of birds allows to get
acquainted with the ornithological fauna of the National Park. The extraordinary
combination of the Isthmus vegetation evokes the botanist's interest
and delight.
If you prefer sunbathing on a beach to all other types recreation, you
could enjoy the greatest beach at the Baikal Lake (Its spread is 25
km), which is in the territory of the Zabaikalsky National Park.
