Protection of natural complexes is the basis and most significant part
of activity carried out by nature-protected areas. The purposes of the
Nature Protection Department are multiform and require knowledge, skills,
habits and special training from the inspectors of the national parks.
Their responsibilities include protection of unique and typical natural
complexes, fighting with poacher, fire-control, control of the protection
regime and sanitation, taking entrance fee from the visitors, rescuing,
guiding, maintenance of the safe behavior among the park's visitors
and others.
There are 40 men,
working for the Department: 30 inspectors and 10 engineers. The territory
of the park is divided into forestries: Arangatuiskoje (with an area
of 200,093 ha), its office locating in the settlement Ust-Barguzin;
and Chivyrkuiskoje (with an area of 30,084 ha), its office locating
in the settlement Kurbulik.
Apart from this there is a special task force that consists of 5 men,
including engineers and a driver-inspector.
The head of the Nature Protection Department is the chief forester of
the National Park (Deputy Director on Nature Protection) Ivanov Sergey
Alexeevich.
The Department of Nature Protection is tooled up with all necessary
equipment: auto-, moto- and water-locomotion means (automobiles UAZ,
GAZ; motorcycles "Ural", "Sova", "Dnepr";
snowbikes "Buran"; guard-boats "Amur" and "Yaroslavets").,
means of conference circuit (fixed and mobile radiostations "Motorola",
fixed radiostations "Angara" and its modifications, smooth
bore guns and rifles ("Saiga", "SKS", "IZH-18"),
special alarm mean, panzervests and safety belts.

Inspector is a primary official person in the territory of the park
and all the visitors should follow his recommendations and claims. Inspectors
are provided with all necessary equipment: auto-, moto- and water-transport
and the means of communication. The majority of inspectors live in the
territory of the park - at the cordons of Arangatuy, Ushkanyi Islands,
Greater Chivyrkuy River, Smaller Cheremshanaya River, Monakhovo, the
settlement Kurbulik. The administration of the park is in the settlement
Ust-Barguzin. Each inspector has assigned areas - beats. In the periods
of firedanger the park's inspectors organize duty at the entrance of
the park and patrol along the fixed routes of the park.
